According to J--who ate three substantial servings each of turkey, mashed potatoes, and green beans--our turkey dinner was a Big Thumbs-Up. I didn't love the stuffing, but otherwise I agree. I learned that lesson and next year I'll make the stuffing from scratch. The mashed potatoes were easy; the only "trick" was not allowing J to see what was being added (Earth Balance margarine and Tofutti Sour Supreme), otherwise he wouldn't have touched them. He thinks he prefers dishes of the single-ingredient variety.
Thanksgiving morning we went to a movie and I was relieved and happy to see that many other people had the same idea. There were lots of families there with small kids, and everyone was in a good mood so that made for a festive atmosphere. Afterward we went home and J read or watched TV while I cooked, so it was a relaxing afternoon for both of us.
Oddly, my stomach was fine all day Thursday and Friday with all that yummy food, but then started bothering me again Friday night. Ibuprofen helped long enough for me to fall asleep, but when I woke up Saturday morning this morning it was hurting again. I've messaged my doctor's office for an appointment early next week (fingers crossed on that one). In the meantime I'm chewing licorice extract wafers, because licorice is supposed to be beneficial for the entire digestive tract. Actually right now I'm drinking a cup of Pukka Pleasure tea, which is absolutely delicious and also contains a bit of licorice. Yum, yum, yum. How fortunate am I, to have a malady for which licorice might be a viable treatment?
feel better! happy thanksgiving!
