So We Moved.

Didja miss me?  I've been spending a lot of time brushing up on my sarcastic iambic pentameter, in preparation for next year's project.  I have a couple of really snide sonnets all ready to go.

So, hi!  A few weeks ago I bought a car.  A week after that we moved, and now my life is unrecognizable.  We drive places now.  We also do laundry in our apartment, heat things up in a microwave, and wash our dishes in a dishwasher.  A dishwasher.  It all feels so terribly odd right now.  I haven't used a car, a microwave, or a dishwasher on a regular basis since about 1997.

The other night, though, I looked out the window and saw four kittens tumbling around in the backyard, and I was really happy that we live in something more like a house now, even if it's not our own and even if I do have to drag the garbage all the way to the alley now instead of dropping it into a garbage chute right outside my door.  And even if we did spot a seriously nasty insect crawling around in one of our houseplants this morning.  (It ended badly for the insect.  We plotted his death for several minutes before hitting upon an acceptable method.  We have a garbage disposal now, too.)  We are now the proud owners of electronic pest repellers because I will try almost anything that promises to prevent insect encounters.  (Well, anything except introducing actual poison into my living quarters.  I can't bring myself to do that.  I'm already killing the planet with my Mazda and my multitude of appliances.)

Other than that . . . J is having an altogether fantastic time at day camp, learning karate and swimming and cheesey camp songs.  At the end of each day he comes home grubby and tired.  He eats approximately twice his weight in cantaloupe and watermelon and peanut butter sandwiches, lolls in the bath, and tumbles into bed, where he sleeps like a rock until it all begins again the next day.

I'm a bit lost in all of this, I guess.  Not used to the changes and knowing there's nothing to do but keep going until I get used to them, I've been painting the pantry and trying not to think too much.  One of these days my life will feel like my own again, I'm sure.

YAY for moving! I'm glad you like you're new place. I have a Mazda, too, we're not killing the planet as much as other people. That's my comfort.

Haha, that's something to think about. But don't worry about destroying the planet with your Mazda since there are other cars that consume more fuel and emit more carbon dioxide. At least you have something to move around in.
